LONDON, UK, 10 May, 2022 – A Scarborough B&B has been named the best-rated B&B in the world for the second consecutive year in the 20th annual Travellers’ Choice® Best of the Best Awards for Hotels, announced today by Tripadvisor®, the world’s largest travel guidance platform.
Following the earlier 2022 releases of the Best of the Best Destinations and Beaches, this latest community-powered ranking reveals the most-loved hotels around the world, just in time for a busy summer travel season.
Scarborough’s The Toulson Court keeps hold of its title of world’s best B&B after first winning the coveted accolade last year. Run by couple Angela and James, it is located close to the seaside town’s Peasholm Park and a short walk from Scarborough Beach.
Not only is the UK home to the world number one B&B this year, the nation also boasts five of the world’s top 25, tying with the US (also boasting five winners) to claim bragging rights that it is the country with more winners than any other in the world. In the Europe list, the UK celebrates eight winners in total, five of which make up Europe’s top five.
In addition to The Toulson Court in Scarborough, notable UK B&B winners include, The 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay which places second in the UK and Europe and fifth in the world and Coombe House in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds, ranking third in the UK and Europe and seventh in the world.
The 2022 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards are based on the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings posted on Tripadvisor over the 12-month period from 1 January, 2021 through 31 December, 2021.
The awards include 11 subcategories of accommodations to reflect the tastes and needs of a broad range of travellers. This year there are three new ones to delve into: Out of the Ordinary, Hotels on the Water and Mountain Lodges & Resorts.
“We know that travel is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so the Travellers’ Choice Awards have you covered–no matter what type of trip you’re planning,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer, Tripadvisor. “Winners for 2022 span six continents and 90 countries, ranging from cave hotels to overwater bungalows to castles and even family-owned B&Bs. UK Top Performers
Beyond B&Bs, plenty of other accommodations in the UK bagged themselves top awards this year. To name a few: In the Small Stays category, Ivybank Lodge in Blairgowrie places 11th in the world, third in Europe and best in the UK. The Perth and Kinross hotel also features in the Luxury Hotels category, taking 13th in Europe and second place in the UK.
Trelawney Hotel in Torquay is 20th in the world’s Small Stays list, eighth in Europe and second in the UK.
In the Most Romantic Hotels category, Haytor Hotel, also in Torquay, ranks 18th in the world, seventh in Europe and best in the UK. The Devon hotel also claims sixth place in the UK’s Small Stays list.
Costa Rica Claims World’s Best Hotel
The No. 1 Top Hotel on the planet for 2022 is Tulemar Bungalows & Villas in Costa Rica. This jungle resort is perched on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Consistently ranking in the Best of the Best Awards, Tulemar is frequently called an “amazing stay in paradise” by its guests.
Bali Boasts Hottest New Hotel in the World
Adiwana Suweta in Bali emerges as the best new hotel in the world for 2022. Located in the trendy, culture-rich town of Ubud, the resort faces lush green jungle and overlooks towering tropical trees. An idyllic slice of paradise.
