Poll: Fliers most annoyed by tight seats, bag fees
Nearly half of travelers have never paid extra for a better seat even though they consider uncomfortable seats and limited legroom the worst features of flying, a new TripAdvisor survey has found.
Of the 2,000 travelers surveyed in TripAdvisor's annual air travel survey, 44% said they would not pay the extra fee. Costly airline fees were among their top complaints about airlines.
Almost a quarter of fliers — 23% — said they'd pay less than $25 to sit in a designated quiet section. But 63% said they would not be willing to pay anything extra if airlines offered such areas.
Travelers said that of all the fees they dislike the most, those to check in bags and carry-on bags were the worst. Fees to select seats, print boarding passes and take advantage of in-flight amenities also were irksome.
On the technology front, one-quarter of the respondents said they would choose one airline over another if it offered WiFi. And 37% said they consider their iPad or tablet an essential carry-on item. That's a 5% increase over 2012...
