Must-Have Apps For Every Trip

Finding things to do

(iOS, Android; free)

Wherever you are (excluding Antarctica) find lists of the best hotels, restaurants and attractions ranked by users’ ratings.

The good: Simple to use and covers the globe.

The bad: Unlike the tablet version, the mobile app does not provide a map.

TripAdvisor City Guides

(iOS, Android; free)

Download one of the 80 city-specific guides before your trip so you can access the information offline.

The good: You can access all of the features of the regular app, including the ability to rate hotels, restaurants, and sites. Especially good for international travel where you might not have a data plan.

The bad: Need to be connected to Wi-Fi for the occasional necessary updates.
