LONDON, UK, September 24, 2024 – Today, Tripadvisor, the world's largest travel guidance platform, announces the winners of its 2024 Travellers’ Choice® Awards: Best of the Best Restaurants. Based on 12 months of global review data, the awards showcase Tripadvisor reviewers’ favourite dining spots for 2024 across nine categories: Casual Dining, Date Night, Fine Dining, Hidden Gems, Outdoor, Pet-Friendly, Sustainable, Quick Bites and Vegan & Vegetarian.

With winning restaurants across 60 countries, whether you’re looking for a fine dining experience on your next trip abroad, or a new spot closer to home, this is a definitive guide to the world’s most loved eateries, according to Tripadvisor reviewers.

New for 2024

This year sees the launch of a brand new category fit for the whole family - Pet-Friendly Restaurants. The UK fetches three spots on the world list, with North Yorkshire pub, The Kings Head, Masham, at No. 6, followed by Surrey Pub, The Watermill, Dorking, at No. 9. The Boardwalk Bar & Grill in the Lake District is named No. 10, and with its outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Windermere it’s perfect for you and your four-legged friends.

Another new category for this year, Sustainable Restaurants, recognises eateries with a commitment to protecting our environment. The list, which awards restaurants across Europe, sees Cornwall pub, Blue Peter Inn, Polperro, take second place, serving up sustainable locally caught fish from its picturesque seafront location. From a castle-top restaurant in Slovenia to fine dining in Iceland, this list showcases some of Europe’s top dining experiences - that are also doing good for our planet.

UK World Winners

When it comes to world-class eateries the UK comes away with 10 awards this year.

Makars Gourmet Mash Bar in Edinburgh is named No. 9 Casual Dining restaurant in the world and No. 1 in the UK. Described by reviewers as an ‘Edinburgh legend’ and ‘local gem’, it serves up an array of Scottish delicacies. Coming in at No. 21 is long-time Tripadvisor favourite and past Travellers’ Choice winner, La Boca Steakhouse. The Doncaster based restaurant is loved by couples and families alike serving up steaks from local Yorkshire butchers, with an Argentine flair and also comes second in the UK list this year.

For those looking for something a little more up-market, the Fine Dining list does not disappoint. All with Michelin Stars to their name, Northcote Restaurant in Langho, Lancashire is No. 3 in the world, followed by The Old Stamp House Restaurant, Lake District, at No. 15. New entry, The Tudor Pass, Egham, Surrey, is named No. 16. On the Europe list, Paul Ainsworth at No. 6, Padstow is No.17 and Edinburgh’s The Kitchin is named No. 23.

Celebrating lesser-known spots is Best of the Best Hidden Gems. On the world list,

Lavang in Solihull comes in at No. 4. Described as a culinary haven of South East Asian cuisine this is a local hotspot not to be missed. It also ranks No. 1 in the UK for Hidden Gems and No. 5 in the UK on the Casual Dining list.

Twelve Eatery in Bournemouth makes its way onto the world stage this year at No. 14 and takes the top spot on the UK’s Vegan & Vegetarian list, rising up the ranks from No. 4 in the UK last year. While Twelve’s menu focuses on nutritious plant-based food, its menu looks to appeal to all diners.
