TripAdvisor®, the travel planning and booking site, today revealed the top 10 most popular destinations for South East Asian travellers during the travel period of 1 December 2016 – 28 February 2017, along with the average one-week costs for hotels, airfare, meals and attractions. The seasonal report also helps travellers take advantage of savings at these destinations by highlighting the least expensive week to visit, as well as highly-rated value hotels and must-do bookable tours on TripAdvisor.
Bali emerged as the most popular destination in terms of traveller interest for South East Asian travellers looking to take a holiday in the new year, followed by Luzon in the Philippines, Hong Kong and Bangkok.
“This report comes in handy for travellers who are planning breaks in the new year, be it for Chinese New Year or Valentine’s Day,” said Ms Janice Lee Fang, communications director for TripAdvisor, Asia Pacific. “It also offers insight into when is best to go to save on great hotels and activities if they book for the right time.”
Where to go and when
Travellers planning a weekend getaway within South East Asia can consider Bangkok, the most affordable destination in the top 10, with the average cost of one week being S$1,737 including hotels, airfare, meals and tour. Beach lovers can make a beeline for the Filipino islands of Cebu in late January (S$1,712) or Boracay in early February (S$1,824).
