TripAdvisor®, the world’s largest travel site*, today reveals the largest and fastest growing markets showing interest in visiting Australian holiday destinations. The study, examines the largest inbound markets for Australia, increased interest from international markets and the top searched destinations in Australia by domestic and international travellers.
Topping the list for increased interest in Australia is long haul market, Switzerland who has increased their total share of search traffic by over 13% over the past year (2014 September – 2015 September). Interest in Australia from the Asia Pacific region remains strong with Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines increasing their share of traffic.

When examining the total search traffic toward Australian destinations from international markets, the U.S. tops the list, closely followed by the the U.K. and Singapore in second and third places respectively. A number of Asian countries including Singapore, China, Japan and Malaysiaalso feature within the top ten list.

Delving a little deeper into the top ten Australian destinations for overall traffic from international and domestic travellers, the top four spots are owned by Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth respectively. However the rest of the lists show some variations in popularity.
