Birmingham Restaurant Named Fourth Best Rated In The World
Adam’s Restaurant Tops 2015 Travellers’ Choice Awards, Which Recognise Travellers’ Favourite Fine Dining Spots Around the Globe

A Birmingham restaurant has been named the fourth best rated fine dining establishment in the world by the 2015 Travellers’ Choice Restaurants awards, announced today by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site*.

The awards honour travellers' favourite fine dining establishments worldwide, based on the millions of valuable reviews and opinions on TripAdvisor. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for restaurants around the world, gathered over a 12-month period.

This year, Adam’s, which is run by husband and wife team Adam and Natasha Stokes, celebrates taking the UK top spot for the first time, as well as sealing a place among the top five best rated restaurants in the world. Since opening in spring 2013, Adam’s has received rave reviews from diners on TripAdvisor, achieving over 700 five bubble ratings.

Natasha Stokes, co-owner of Adam’s said, “We are so honoured and humbled to receive a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award for Restaurants. Our goal has always been to open a restaurant where our guests can feel at home for any occasion. To be rated top five in the world is a remarkable accolade one we hope we can live up to.”

This year’s awards highlights the rude health of the UK’s fine dining sector, with two other UK restaurants – Restaurant Sat Bains in Nottingham and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons in Great Milton – also being named among the world’s top ten best-rated.

The coveted title of number one restaurant in the world goes to Spain’s Martin Berasategui in Lasarte. Located in Lasarte-Oria – a small, picturesque town just outside San Sebastián, the cuisine on offer is modern Spanish and Berasategui’s cooking is creative with a focus on technique. The tasting menu features some of his classic dishes including Mille-feuille of smoked eel, foie-gras, spring onions and green apple; as well as new creations such as Sea bass fillets over barnacle “marinière” sauce, crispy egg yolk and extract of green asparagus and spinach.

“With three UK restaurants among the world top ten, this year’s awards prove that the UK does fine dining as well as any other country in the world,” commented TripAdvisor spokesperson, James Kay, ”So given how competitive the restaurant industry is here, it really is a fantastic achievement for the team at Adam’s to have claimed the number one spot in the UK for the first time.”

A survey of over 3,500 British travellers by TripAdvisor has revealed what a foodie nation we are, with nearly half (45%) having been on or planning to go on a gastronomic getaway specifically to eat at a particular restaurant. In addition, a third (34%) of Brits have visited a restaurant because of its celebrity chef.

Almost three-quarters of those who go to fine dining restaurants (74%) say they seek recommendations from online reviews***.
