TripAdvisor.com site data also reveals that Las Vegas, New York City and Miami boast the most sizzling hotels in the U.S., based on the "sexy index," calculating the number of times that travelers use the term "sexy" in their candid TripAdvisor reviews.
1. Night Hotel, New York City, New York Average Nightly Rate: $251
As its name suggests, this modern and monochrome boutique hotel features very little light, making this the perfect spot for a romantic rendezvous with a significant other. TripAdvisor travelers note the guest rooms are cozy, and come complete with a copy of the Kama Sutra in the nightstand. Even the walls are covered with erotic art, with one TripAdvisor traveler noting, "The lobby has photos of nearly nude women in masks that aren't for the prude!"
2. Hotel Max, Seattle, Washington Average Nightly Rate: $167
Set in the heart of downtown Seattle, Hotel Max offers a stylish and sexy choice for over-21s wishing to explore the Emerald City. Prefer to give sight-seeing a miss and retreat to your guest room? Turn your door-handle sign to "please do not disturb" and enjoy the amenities within, including a "You Got It" button on the telephone, which responds to any whim, and a mini-bar complete with an intimacy kit. "Hotel Max is trendy and sexy and there is definitely something in the air (or perhaps they spray pheromones on the sheets)," writes one TripAdvisor traveler.
3. Hotel Palomar, Washington, D.C. Average Nightly Rate: $346
With crocodile-sculpted carpeting on the floors, faux fur throws on the beds and leopard-print robes in the closets, this is an ideal spot for romantics to say "Grrrr, Baby!" Travelers can even indulge in "The Art of Celebrating Romance" package, featuring a body paint set, chocolate covered strawberries and a private couple's massage. As one traveler writes, "The Hotel Palomar is great for a sexy tryst or rendezvous."
4. Hotel Lucia, Portland, Oregon Average Nightly Rate: $156
Travelers seeking a fragrant setting for a romantic getaway in The City of Roses can make Hotel Lucia their first port of call. This downtown boutique hotel offers modern surroundings, not to mention a "Kiss This" guest-package, including champagne, massage oils and dusting powders. As one TripAdvisor traveler writes, "Everything about the hotel is sexy - the decor is gorgeous and sophisticated, and the staff is extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable."
5. The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada Average Nightly Rate: $197
Where better for travelers to unleash their sexy side than in the original Sin City? The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino offers all the trappings to bring out travelers' wild sides, including a room service menu featuring an array of lingerie and after-dark accessories. As one TripAdvisor traveler suggests, "Don't bring kids... The mood is sexy and friendly and the music makes it a party atmosphere at all times."
6. The Setai, Miami, Florida Average Nightly Rate: $826
If money is no object, this stunning oceanfront resort in the heart of South Beach offers a spectacularly seductive spot. Guest rooms boast a modern, Asian-influenced design, and feature black granite baths, rainfall showers and mood-lighting, to add romance at the touch of a button. The sunken pods in the outdoor courtyard also make an alluring retreat, with one TripAdvisor traveler commenting, "Very romantic setting outside with many comfortable and secluded sitting areas -- very sexy."
7. Hotel on Rivington, New York City, New York Average Nightly Rate: $393
This hotel offers stunning views of Manhattan, with each room boasting floor-to-ceiling glass walls -- but the vistas aren't the only thing that will appeal to amorous guests. As one TripAdvisor traveler notes, "From the unconventional layout, to the glass curtain walling, to the voyeuristic shower walls, everything about this place screams hedonistic pleasure."
8. Glenn Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia Average Nightly Rate: $253
Follow the grass-lined hallways to the guest rooms, and travelers will be met with sleek design, comfortable furnishings and a shower featuring a peek-a-boo view in to the bedroom. In the words of one TripAdvisor traveler, "I loved the little window from the bathroom into the bedroom: this is definitely a great hotel for young couples, or for older couples who want to feel young again!"
9. The Library Hotel, New York City, New York Average Nightly Rate: $338
This boutique hotel on Madison Avenue offers its guests a world first: over 6,000 volumes of books organized throughout the property by the Dewey classification System. Sceptical that literature can set your pulse racing? Think again -- room 800.001 is packed with erotic tomes, including Casanova's autobiography, while room 1100.006 is adorned with books on love and relationships. "We had the erotic literature room and were surprised by the quality of books that we found," reveals one TripAdvisor traveler.
10. James Chicago, Chicago, Illinois Average Nightly Rate: $246
Set in the heart of Chicago's famous Magnificent Mile, this hotel's modern design oozes sophistication and sex-appeal. Guest rooms feature dark wood platform beds and white leather furnishings - and if these (or your partner) aren't enough to get you drooling, the cookie left on your pillow as part of the nightly turn-down service should do the trick. "Nice big sexy boutique-style rooms," comments one TripAdvisor traveler.
"Whether couples are looking for a great value Valentine's getaway or a once-in-a-lifetime luxury escape, TripAdvisor travelers recommend these hotels for a memorable romantic retreat," said Christine Petersen, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor.
