TripAdvisor Data Reveals The Cheapest Time To Book Hotels For Summer Travel
‘Best Time to Book’ Report Shows Travellers Booking During Optimal Periods Can Save As Much As 35% on Hotels for Summer in Popular Destinations Worldwide

LONDON, UK, 5 April, 2017 – Travellers can save an average of 19% and up to 35% on hotels in popular destinations this summer depending on when they book, says a report released today by the travel planning and booking site, TripAdvisor.

The ‘Best Time to Book’ summer report highlights the least expensive times to book hotels this summer in popular destinations around the globe, based on TripAdvisor hotel pricing data.

“Booking a hotel at just the right time can make all the difference in helping travellers to maximise their budget. While there is no special one size fits all formula, the Best Time to Book report shows that for many destinations, hotel prices are lowest a few months ahead of the trip,” commented TripAdvisor spokesperson, Hayley Coleman.

Of the 28 major destinations included in the research, travellers to Budapest stand to gain the most from booking at the right time – with a potential saving of 35% if booking three to five months out. Istanbul and Barcelona follow, both at 33% when booking within five months and three to nine months out respectively. Dubai comes next at 24% when booking within six months.

For Brits heading to the Middle East and Asia, the biggest savings come when booking closer to the date of the trip. Travellers going to the Middle East can save 19% when booking within 2 months of their summer trip while booking hotels in Asia within three months of the trip can secure 14% off the average summer hotel rate at its peak price.

TripAdvisor analysed hotel pricing data to identify the time periods offering the lowest prices on hotels for summer in nine popular regions and 28 popular cities around the world for the months of June, July and August. The analysis defined ‘best time to book’ as periods when hotel prices were consistently less than the destination average. Below is the breakdown of the best time to book as well as potential savings when booking hotels in these destinations for summer 2017 compared to the peak rates during the same period.
