About one-third of Americans plan Labor Day travel
About 33 percent of Americans will travel for Labor Day, a 6 percent increase from last year, TripAdvisor reported Wednesday in its annual Labor Day and fall travel survey.
Nationwide, fall travel is expected to be flat this year, with 86 percent of TripAdvisor's respondents planning trips compared with 85 percent last year.
Road trips are popular, with 63 percent planning to drive this Labor Day, while 30 percent wil fly.
As for the travel reason, 42 percent plan to visit family and friends, 25 percent are going to the great outdoors, 24 percent will go to the ocean, and 20 percent will go on a city vacation.
