TripAdvisor's Picks for Easy New England Getaways

There is so much happening in New England during the summer and Massachusetts-based Trip Advisor has its picks for the easiest day trips and weekend getaways.

Julie Cassetina, of Trip Advisor, said New England has many lesser known spots that make great trips, especially if you are trying to avoid tourist crowds. In Narragansett, Rhode Island, there are 19 acres of beaches. Those wanting to try something can pay a small fee for morning yoga at the town beach daily.

Up in Maine, Cassetina said Kennebunkport is a good option for those wanting to stay away from big mob scenes like Portland. The town hosts a paddle festival on August 2.

Vermont and New Hampshire are usually big ski destinations in the winter, but both also have a lot to offer in the summer. The Vermont Beer Festival takes place on July 17 and 18, with dozens of craft beers from around the state available for sampling. North Conway in New Hampshire is also one of the most affordable spots found by Trip Advisor, with average rooms available for under $200 a night. Home to Mount Washington, the tallest peak in New England, the area is ideal for hiking.
